On Saturday evening, the Price City Police Department (PCPD) announced that there were multiple homes in Price that were a total loss following a fire that began in a residential neighborhood.

At the time of the initial report, the PCPD stated that the investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing and there was no comment from them, other than that there was one individual that was transferred to the hospital and their condition was unknown.

“We want to give our condolences to those who have lost lifetimes of memories and possessions,” the PCPD shared. “And we want to thank all the surrounding agencies who have assisted today.”

On Sunday afternoon, the Price City Fire Depatment released an official update in regard to the fire, stating that multiple aid was dispatched from surrounding agencies, including Helper, Wellington and East Carbon Fire, along with the Carbon County Ambulance and sheriff’s office, Wellington Police and the Utah Highway Patrol.

“A total of four structures were damaged in the incident, with three families being displaced from their homes,” Price Fire stated. “All families were directed to the Red Cross for assistance. One vacant home had minor damage.”

Price Fire continued by explaining that the Utah State Fire Marshal was contacted for investigation, which determined the cause of the fire was an old and damaged barbecuer that was unable to contain the embers.
