The regular public session of the Elmo Town Council was on July 9 in the Elmo Town Hall. Mayor James Winn welcome everyone to the meeting. All council members were in attendance.
The council then began a planning discussion about Elmo’s Horse and Buggy Days, scheduled for the 8th through the 10th of August. The celebration will begin on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. with a town dinner. Although some plans are still tentative, many of the regular activities such as bike ride, bounce houses, vendors and dinners, are planned again.
One application has been received for the part time maintenance worker and hiring will happen soon. Tanner and Jaylyn Lake will continue to mow, but the new employee will be responsible for the other duties. Bids have been received for the control and prevention of weeds on the curbs and gutters, as well as other areas of the town.
The Recreation Board report by Council member Tara Augare noted that Recreation Football signups are starting with flag football for grades 1 to 4, and tackle football for 5th and 6th graders.
The Special Service District report came from Mayor Winn. The road work in Elmo should begin shortly. Concern about cars parked on the road was considered. Cleaning the gutters was questioned but will likely be the city’s responsibility. The broken pipes and sprinklers will be repaired by Tyler Kay.
Citizens’ concerns brought to the council were considered. Over-watering and flooding on neighbor’s yards was discussed and remain citizen’s responsibility.
