Emery junior standout Ashlynn Allred successfully defended her 200-meter title Saturday at the UHSAA State Track and Field Championships in Provo.
Despite losing her heat to North Summit freshman Ashlin Blonquist, Allred came back in the final and nipped Bonquist by .25 seconds.
It was a bit of redemption for Allred, as she lost both the 100 and 200 to Blonquist at the BYU Invitational earlier this month. Allred won last year’s 100 and 200 state titles.
Blonquist did upend Allred in the 100 though, barely getting by the Spartan by just .05 seconds.
Overall, Emery had a great showing at the state meet, finishing in sixth place out of 20 2A teams.
