The Emery County Commission meeting was dominated by a presentation by the State of Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA) on Tuesday.
SITLA has been trying for several years to initiate a process that will complement Emery County’s road improvement efforts.
The current concern is over just eight miles of total road. Seventy-five percent of which qualifies as valid existing rights, but taking action on the remaining portion would require commissioners to obtain a disclaimer of easement.
The SITLA presentation focused on how to secure the disclaimer. SITLA members also noted the high success rate of previous disclaimer requests.
As an update to a previous item, The Commission approved the engineering contract between Emery County and Johansen and Tuttle Engineering for the upcoming Lawrence Cemetery Fence Project.
