Ryan Christopher Macart was sentenced to prison after appearing before Seventh District Judge George Harmond on Monday.

Macart, 20, faced six counts of sex abuse of a child, all second degree felonies. After Judge Harmond expressed his deep concern for the community, he sentenced Macart to 1-15 years for each count to be served at the Utah State Prison. The sentences will run concurrently. No fine will be imposed but Macart will be expected to pay for the child’s treatment regarding the case.

On March 1, Macart was booked into jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to Price City Police Detective Ed Malmgren, Macart helped facilitate a physical altercation between 12 and 13-year-old females.

The following day, Malmgren interviewed Macart regarding the sex abuse charges. During the interview, alleged confessions were obtained from Macart in relation to those charges. The cases are connected to five victims, including one from Carbon County and four from Richfield.

According to Price City Police Captain Bill Barnes, Macart was originally booked in the Carbon County Jail on four counts of first degree felony rape of a child and four counts of first degree felony sodomy of a child.
