Residents of Colombia came before the East Carbon City Council Tuesday night with concerns about confusion regarding water and sewer bills.
Norm Levering expressed concern about confusing wording for water and sewer hookups.
Councilmen agreed to work with the city attorney to remedy the situation.
After a public hearing, Councilmen passed a resolution to raise the water price to a $24 base-rate with a $2 overage fee per thousand gallons.
Councilmen explained the rate increase was necessary to help boost an emergency reserve fund, to raise money for water system improvements and repairs, to keep up with inflation, and to ensure the rate was compliant with required State and Federal grant standards.
