Price City’s International Days celebration began with an opening ceremony Thursday that was shortly followed by the Texaco Country Showdown.
Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo said over the lectern, “We welcome and invite you to enjoy this celebration over the next few days with the community.”
Piccolo spoke about uniting the community and was particularly proud of the effort to gather care packages for deployed soldiers from around the community.
The Texaco Country Showdown competition followed some quick remarks by International Days Grand Marshal Don Burge.
Twelve musical acts performed. The acts were judged, and six were invited back to compete in the area finals Friday in Washington Park. The winner of the local competition will qualify for a spot in the national competition.
