A summer food drive will be held through August to benefit the Carbon County Food Bank. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at many locations, including the Carbon County Court House and Senior Activity Center, Wal-Mart, and at the offices of both local radio stations.

Food Bank Assistant Michelle Holley reported that the local facility is in serious need because of a combination of the increased need for assistance and lower-than-normal rates of donation.

Holley explained that the Food Bank welcomes a variety of donations, from non-perishable foods, which can be dropped off at the participating locations, to fresh produce, meat, and even monetary donations that must come to the facility located at 75 East 400 South in Price.

The facility has recently been low on canned vegetables, and other canned foods like chili and tuna.

The Carbon County Food Bank accepts donations Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is open for business Tuesday through Thursday, from noon to 4 p.m.
