Castle Valley Outdoors hosted the Emery County Historical Society’s annual “Cowboy Poetry Night” on Thursday evening.
The evening began with Sylvia Nelson awarding Dixie Swasey with a special award for her many years of dedication, effort and contribution to the community. A painting was also donated to Jim Fauver of Castle Valley Outdoors to show the Emery County Historical Society’s appreciation.
Music was performed by the Val Jensen Band while local cowboy poets Kent Peterson, Bernice Payne, Amanda Bennett, Lori Ann Larsen and Tyler Jeffs shared songs and poetry with those in attendance.
Dutch oven cobbler and ice cream were served at the end of evening by the society.
Anyone is invited to attend the meetings. Those who would like to join the society and receive reminders of all it activities and meetings may sign up for only $5 a year.
