Students from the USU Eastern cosmetology program hosted a bake sale on Tuesday to raise funds for those battling breast cancer in Carbon and Emery counties.
The bake sale was in conjunction with October’s Salons for Survival fundraiser. Salons in the area donate a portion of sales to assist those with cancer. According to cosmetology associate professor Debra Prichard, the cosmetology students hosted the bake sale because it raises more funds than donating a portion of USU Eastern salon sales.
Forty students from the cosmetology program participated in the event. Students baked goodies and sold them at the student center while some even walked throughout the campus with treats to encourage their peers to support those battling the illness.
All of the money raised at the event will stay in Carbon and Emery counties.
