Carbon Recreation and North Springs Shooting Range hosted a turkey shoot Saturday that was designed to get young people interested in shooting sports.
Carbon Recreation representative John Taylor organized the event. Taylor said he wanted to show young people that shooting could be an extremely enjoyable sport.
“There are not enough young people shooting,” Taylor said.
Participants competed in timed rifle, precision rifle, precision pistol and speedball events. Five frozen turkeys were awarded to adult winners.
The event also featured a kid’s contest where one frozen turkey was awarded to the winner.
Approximately 20 participants competed in the contests.
North Springs Shooting Range will host a “Cowboy Shoot” on Nov. 30.
