What is Thanksgiving without turkey? Well, while many will have abundance this holiday season, some might not even have a Thanksgiving meal.
According to Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments (SEUALG) Community Service Program Manager Geri Gamber, the Carbon and Emery food banks are grossly underprepared to serve their customers this Thanksgiving. In fact, between the two counties, the food banks only have 200 turkey breasts to serve over 600 clients. That’s breasts, not full turkeys.
While donations are appreciated year-round, staff at the food banks rally for donations during this time of year to ensure each client has an enjoyable holiday season. This includes turkeys and the trimmings for all those in need this Thanksgiving.
Donations can be made to the Carbon County Food Bank located at 75 East 400 South in Price and at Emery County Food Bank at 40 South Center Street in Castle Dale.
