An unidentified man driving a silver Toyota Tacoma allegedly fell asleep and crashed into a telephone pole near SR 29 and Des Bee Dove Road at approximately 3:16 a.m. Sunday morning.
Utah Highway Patrol Lieutenant David Bennion said the vehicle was likely totaled in the accident.
“It looks like [the driver] fell asleep at the wheel,” Bennion said. “It is currently under investigation. It doesn’t look like speed was a factor.”
The driver, whose name was not released, allegedly struck his head on the windshield and was transported to Castleview Hospital. Reports indicate the driver was treated and released.
Bennion said charges were pending as UHP officials were waiting for a toxicology report.
“[Drowsy driving] unfortunately causes a lot of accidents,” Bennion added. “If you are drowsy while driving, pull over and ask for someone else to come get you.”
