The USU Eastern women’s basketball team took to the road after Christmas to face Eastern Arizona College (EAC) and Hutchison Community College (HCC) on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
In the first game of the trip, the Lady Eagles escaped with a narrow win over EAC, 65-62. The game marked the first loss of the season for Eastern Arizona. USU Eastern took a small lead into the half, 33-29. Eight three-point shots helped propel the Eagles to the non-conference win. Ana Borges led the team with 16 points to go along with five rebounds.
A trip to Las Vegas to take on HCC did not end as well for the Eagles as Hutchison ran past them 90-64. USU Eastern trailed by 11 at the half and were unable to get a lead throughout the game. Clemence LeFebvre led the Eagles with 24 points and 10 boards.
The team now sits at 13-4 on the season. Next up for the Eagles is a matchup against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Jan. 10.
