The upcoming Carbon County Commission meeting will find itself on a different day with a hot button item next week.
Usually scheduled for Wednesday evenings, next week’s commission meeting is slated for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. However, one of the most anticipated items on the agenda won’t begin until 6 p.m.
Promptly at 6 p.m., the commission will open a public hearing regarding the proposed property tax increase for county assessing and collecting as well as municipal service funds. Carbon County Clerk/Auditor Seth Oveson will present on the topic before the floor is opened to the public for comment.
Information about both proposed items, which include increases of 44.99% and 707.36% above last year’s property tax budgeted revenue, can be found below.
Also at the meeting, Carbon County Recreation Director Frank Ori will present United Way of Eastern Utah a check from proceeds of the International Days 5K and the Battin’ For Boobies softball tournament. Members and staff of the local Boys & Girls Club will also be recognized for their recent service.
