Price City Police Department Press Release

Price City Police along with Carbon County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Greenwell Inn on May 15 at 3:30 a.m. to investigate suspicious circumstances called in by motel staff.

The ensuing investigation ended with the arrest of John Richard Salazar, DOB 5/25/72, from Payson (formerly from Price), for possession of a controlled substance (prescription medication – oxycodone) a second degree felony, possession of paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and sexual solicitation, a class B misdemeanor. In addition, Salazar was also booked on an unrelated retail theft charge enhanced to a felony level based on previous theft related convictions and an unrelated arrest warrant out of the Carbon County Justice Court.

Ayla Lynne Scott, also known as Amy, DOB 12/16/92, from South Salt Lake City, was issued a citation for sexual solicitation, a class B misdemeanor. She was released from police custody.

Escort driver, David Michael Gridley, DOB 9/21/80, of Salt Lake City, was questioned and released.

Gridley was initially reported as a suspicious person in a vehicle. He was contacted by responding officer Stephen Regruto and deputy Mike Adams. Gridley gave allegedly conflicting information about his reason for being at the Greenwell. Officers were ultimately directed to a particular room based on information provided by Gridley and hotel staff. Gridley acknowledged being a driver for escort girls for the company Companion Escorts. He allegedly explained that his involvement was to pick up girls and take them to addresses he is given and shuttle them from call to call. Gridley allegedly advised officers he does not know what happens once the girls leave the vehicle.

Once at the room in question, the investigating officers could plainly hear a female voice coming from the room. The occupants were unresponsive to officers knocking on the door.

Police waited until Salazar and Scott exited the room. Allegedly, they each provided divergent stories about their contact with one another. Ultimately, Scott admitted to receiving $350 from Salazar for escort services and another $50 for a “tip”. Police seized the money.

During the investigation, both individuals allegedly acknowledged their contact resulted in sexual behavior. In addition, it was learned that Salazar allegedly illegally possessed oxycodone and attempted to dispose of the pills down the tub drain, discard the pill bottle and destroy the label.

Officers followed up by accessing Companions Escorts website, where they located a page containing photographs of numerous girls including Scott. The photo listed Scott’s entertainer name as Amy and described her as the “newest addition.”
