Emery running back Austin Allred rushed for four touchdowns Friday night in the Emery Spartans’ 41-7 homecoming win against cross-county rival Carbon.
Emery scored just under four minutes into the game on a three-yard touchdown run by Allred after Carbon fumbled on its opening possession. Bryce Dugmore made it 14-0 with 4:56 to play in the half on another three-yard scamper for Emery. Carbon then used up the final four minutes of the half on an extended drive that saw it turn the ball over on downs with just 16 seconds remaining.
After the Dinos failed two onside kicks to open up the second half, Emery found paydirt in less than two minutes on another Allred TD, this time from one yard out. Carbon put its only points on the board early in the fourth on a 60-yard run by Nathan Olsen. Before that, though, Allred scored on two touchdown runs, one from 12 yards out and another from 30. Allred had 90 total yards rushing on the night.
Ashton Dieli would cap of the scoring for Emery with a 37 yarder with 6:02 remaining in the game.
Emery (3-2, 1-0 3A North) will host Morgan (3-2, 0-1 3A North) on Friday at 7 p.m. The game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10. Carbon (1-4, 0-1 3A North) will host Grantsville (0-5, 0-1 3A North) on the same night.
