Press Release

Emery County Sheriff’s Office and Utah Highway Patrol personnel recently participated in an active shooter exercise at Emery High School.

Each year, EHS drama students, under the direction of their teacher Neal Peacock, create a different scenario staged at the high school. First responders do not know what the scenario is until they arrive on scene. At the conclusion of the exercise, all participants attend a debriefing.

ECSO extends thanks to Emery County School District for their continued cooperation and to UHP for their participation. With the world-wide trend of criminals targeting schools with innocent, vulnerable victims, training like this is vital in order to strengthen school response capabilities within Emery County.
