Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Press Release
Carbon County has experienced widespread flooding from a series of severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. Flooding occurred in numerous parts of the county.
Severe flooding occurred within Pilling’s Trailer Court near 750 North Carbonville Rd. At least 24 homes were severely damaged with dozens of others affected. Cleanup began Saturday night with Carbon County Road Department crews and cleanup will continue throughout Sunday. Residents will be escorted into their homes to get immediate needed personal belongings such as clothing, medication, valuables and emergency supplies beginning Sunday once Health Department and County Building Officials have deemed it safe to do so.
A shelter has been established at the Carbon County Event Center (450 S. Fairgrounds Way, Price UT 84501). If anyone has been displaced, or for those that have been affected by the flooding, we are encouraging residents to go there for food, clothing, medication or temporary housing needs. The Red Cross is at this facility ready to assist with these needs.
A flood hotline for the Carbon County area has been established for all non-emergency needs. We encourage citizens who have cleanup needs, sustained damage or need assistance in any way to contact 435-472-HELP (4357).
Carbon County and Wellington City have both declared a State of Emergency and will continue to work with the State of Utah Division of Emergency Management on this declaration. Carbon County will also continue assessing damages sustained and prepare for any future flooding. Weather updates for Carbon County will be updated and posted to our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Sandbags are available at the Carbon County Road Department (2660 E. Airport, Price UT 84501) and Helper Fire Department (97 S Main, Helper UT 84526). If you are in need of sand bags, please provide your own means of transporting them.
