As per tradition in Helper City, Main Street was shut down on Friday evening as individuals far and wide gathered to celebrate the recent patriotic holiday and don their disco gear as they celebrated the July theme of American Disco for First Friday.
There were many activities going on throughout Main Street, including slime making at Three Little Llamas, Karaoke and drinks at The Kids Station, disco dancing, face painting, rib tasting, live music, a watermelon contest and much more.
Marsha’s Sammich Shop N’ Bakery was deemed the tastiest ribs in town while Glenn Fulcher, Cambria Mitchell and and Jaylah Metelko were awarded for having the best costumes at the event.
For the watermelon eating contest, there were a number of winners. Oliver Steele, Della Otera, Audacee Eden, Persephone Jones and more chowed down the quickest.
Next month’s First Friday event is slated to take place on Aug. 3.
