Authorities responded to an accident involving a semi truck in Helper on Saturday afternoon.

According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Warren Nelson, the accident occurred around 12 p.m. on Highway 6 in Helper, near the mouth of the canyon at mile post 232. The driver of the semi was driving eastbound when he fell asleep, crossed the centerline and drove on to the shoulder, crashing into a fence.

“There were no injuries,” Nelson explained. “Though, here was some minor property damage.”

The fence stopped the semi from crashing into homes located near the highway. The truck did become stuck as a result of the accident. Authorities had to shut down both lanes of traffic for a short period of time while crews got the semi unstuck. The scene was cleared around 4 p.m.
