Man Killed in Avalanche Near Miller Flat

Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office reported that search and rescue crews were dispatched to the Miller Flat area Sunday evening following an avalanche report.

According to a press release from the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office, Clint Conover from Ferron was killed due to the avalanche after becoming submerged in 6-8 feet of snow.

The release also stated that Conover was with three others, all who were said to be trained in avalanche rescue and experienced backcountry snowmobilers. The group had beacons, probes, shovels and spot GPS.

The group located Conover after he was buried in the snow. They performed CPR and called for help. Emergency crews from Emery and Sanpete counties, Fairview Ambulance and State Parks responded.

Conover leaves behind a wife and five children.
