The Carbon Lady Dinos clamped down defensively on the visiting Bear River Bears Friday night in a 3A first round playoff game hosted in Price. The Lady Dinos allowed just three total field goals in the game en route to a 47-22 win, earning a spot in the 3A Quarterfinals on Thursday.

The 22 points allowed in the game were the second fewest the Lady Dinos have given up all season. The Lady Bears didn’t connect on their first field goal until the 7:30 mark of the fourth quarter.

Neither team found its stroke in the first half, with Carbon taking a 19-8 lead into the break.

Carbon came out fired up in the third, outscoring the Lady Bears 14-3 in the period, while again holding them without a field goal for another eight minutes. The Lady Dinos led 33-11 after three.

It was much of the same in the fourth as Carbon continued to pour it on, and led by as many as 25 in the quarter. Bear River notched its final two field goals with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

Lindsey Blanc and Sara Morley led Carbon with 15 points apiece. Blanc went 9-13 from the free throw line. Taylor Passarella and Morgan Hillam each chipped in four.

Carbon, now 21-2 on the season, will play Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Southern Utah University against Stansbury, who beat Desert Hills Friday night. The game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10 or 6.
