Beeing Correct-Regional Spelling Bee Winner Heads to National Contest

Fifteen students from nine area schools took part in the Southeast Educational Service Center Region Spelling Bee Tuesday in Moab.

The first-place winner was Jared Ward from Albert R. Lyman Middle School in Blanding. He spelled the word “conniption” correctly to earn an all-expense-paid trip for two to Bee Week 2013 in Washington DC, May 26-June 1.

Paul Bryner of Mont Harmon Junior High took second. He was unable to spell the word “cempstral” correctly in round 25. Noah Kemner garnered third and is also from ARL Middle School. He went out in round 19.

Kids from the following schools participated in thespelling bee: Mont Harmon Junior High, Pinnacle Academy, Creekview Elementary, Sally Mauro Elementary, Canyon View Junior High, Cleveland Elementary, HM Knight Elementary, Monticello Elementary, and ARL Middle School.
