A representative of Best Friends of Utah attended the Ferron City public information meeting on Thursday evening. Best Friends has been a presence in the state of Utah since Best Friends Animal Sanctuary opened in 1984. The organization has since branched out to the rest of the state to include major pet adoption and fundraising events as well as the promotion of spay/neuter and animal advocacy.

The purpose of the meeting in Ferron was to discuss and gather public input about the cat problems facing Ferron City. No decision was made during the meeting but possible solutions were discussed.

It was reported that the vouchers for neutering or adoption available through Best Friends of Utah have been put on hold until October. However, the concerned citizens were informed that if someone wants to trap 50 cats and take them to Orem all at one time, they can be neutered free of charge as long as they are returned safely where they were trapped. The individual must trap, transport and return at their own expense.
