Utah Division of Wildlife Resources hosted a wildlife-viewing event in Sunnyside over the weekend. A herd of bighorn sheep frequents the area every summer and can easily be seen throughout the area. However, during the viewing event on Saturday, the herd was nowhere to be found.
DWR officers provided spotting scopes and binoculars to the public for wildlife viewing. One bighorn could be seen on the high cliffs behind several Sunnyside homes but was barely visible to the naked eye.
Earlier in the day, a herd of bighorn was spotted grazing along side the road. DWR officer, Brent Stettler also spotted a small herd Monday morning near maintenance buildings in town.
