The weekend played host to the 2nd Annual Helper Hitmen Black Diamond Baseball Tournament. Sixteen different teams stepped up to the plate during this tournament, hailing from Utah, Colorado and Idaho.

Beginning on Friday morning and running until the championship games began at 6 p.m. the following evening, the players worked hard to put their team on top. The age groups for the teams were 10, 12 and 14. The ten and under teams included the Spanish Fork Hitmen, Uintah Baseball and the North Sanpete Hawks.

For this age bracket, the Uintah Baseball team came out of top with the championship. The twelve and under bracket included Nephi Rage, Payson Outlaws, Rigby Idaho All-Stars, the Price Vyrus and the East Carbon All-Stars.

After a day of competitive play, the championship game took place between the Payson Outlaws and Price Vyrus. Although both teams played well, the Payson Outlaws came out victorious, securing the championship for that bracket.

The final bracket, 14 and under, included Utah Stars, The Ambush, Emery, Roosevelt Strike, Payson Hitmen, Colorado West Lookouts, the Helper Hitmen and West Slope Regulators. These teams played four games for seeding with the Utah Stars coming out on top at number one. Both Payson and the Lookouts won their semi-final games, moving on to the 14 and under championship.

This game lasted for five innings and went until just after midnight. In the end, the Payson Hitmen defeated the champions from Colorado with a final score of 17-8.

The Helper Hitmen would like to thank their sponsors for supporting them during this season. These sponsors are Wicked Automotive, Castle Country Hydraulic and Repair, Bryan Moss Floor Coverings and BJ Motors. The Hitmen would also like to think Scott Madsen of USU Eastern and Price City for allowing the games to be played on their fields.

“A special thanks goes out to Tony and Erika Alford for all of their hard work and dedication in making this tournament a success,” a representative of the tournament stated.
