The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Price Field Office announces the 30-day public comment period from May 18, through June 16, 2011, for the proposed Mathington Substation Environmental Assessment (EA).
The EA describes the potential impacts of Rocky Mountain Power Company’s proposal to construct a new substation and associated infrastructure.
The BLM is considering granting a right-of-way (ROW) to Rocky Mountain Power Company.В All activities associated with construction, operation, and maintenance of the substation would be within the authorized limits of the ROW.В Any future realignment, reconstruction, or maintenance outside the authorized area must be authorized by amending the ROW.
Rocky Mountain Power Company has applied for a ROW grant for construction of a new substation to provide safe and reliable service to the area in and around the communities of Price and Wellington, Utah.В This new substation and related facilities are proposed to increase the capacity and system reliability and would support area load growth and also to optimize the use of existing facilities.
Additional information about this project is included in the EA available for public review and comment. An electronic copy of the EA can be found on the BLM’s Environmental Notification Bulletin Board (ENBB) at https://www.blm.gov/ut/enbb/index.php or a hard copy can be obtained from the Price Field Office upon request. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response. However, they will be considered in the BLM decision-making process. The most useful comments are those that identify alternatives, identify issues relevant to the proposal, or contain new technical or scientific information.
Please reference the Mathington Substation EA when submitting comments. Comments, including names, e-mail addresses, and street addresses of respondents will be available for public review at the BLM Price Field Office during regular business hours (7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday), except federal holidays.
Please include a mailing or e-mail address, phone number, or other personal identifying information with comments.В The BLM will not consider anonymous comments.В Individual respondents may request confidentiality.В If you wish to withhold your name, street address, or email address from public review and disclosure under the FOIA, you must state this prominently at the beginning of your written comment.В Such requests will be honored to the extent allowed by law.В All submissions from organizations or businesses will be made available for public inspection in their entirety.Written comments will be accepted during the public comment period from May 18, 2011, through June 16, 2011.В Please submit written comments to:
