At 2:15 Sunday afternoon a missing Scofield resident was reported to the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office.
A family member said the victim had been missing since early that morning. Sheriff James Cordova activated the Carbon County Search and Rescue and had every intention of finding the man in the Scofield area. The team was surprised when a member of search and rescue reported the victims vehicle parked on the side of the road at mile marker 227 in Price Canyon at 4:23p.m. After further investigation the apparent cause of death was a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The male victim was 63-years-old and lived in Scofield’s Aspen Cove Subdivision.
