Emery County Spartans 15U and Eastern Utah 14U met at Cheddar Field on Friday for a rivalry showdown. After a scoreless first inning, Ayden Rowley led off the second with a single for the Spartans. He advanced into scoring position after a steal and then came around to score on Josh Howard’s RBI single. Eastern Utah responded with three runs in the bottom half, two of which came home off the bat of Anthony Wilson’s single. In the top of the third, the Spartans answered back with a two-out, two-RBI double from Kade Larsen.

It was a tight battle until the bottom of the fifth when Eastern Utah broke open the 3-3 tie with five runs, off of four errors, two singles and a walk. Emery never did recover as Eastern Utah won it, 10-3.

Logan Madrigal had game-highs of four ribbies and three hits, including a double for Eastern Utah. Maddux Hart came into the game and shutdown the Spartans with three and one third innings while only giving up one hit and one walk. On the Emery side, Rowley led the Spartans at the plate, going 2-3 with a double. The Spartan staff only gave up three earned runs but the six team errors came back to bite Emery.
