Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country’s A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) program once again took the time to help improve a local home.
Representatives of ABWK and members of the Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County worked together on a paint job on a home located in Helper on Friday. Eleven teens and two supervisors from the club were in attendance, working hard for three hours to paint the lower half of the siding on the home as well as the foundation.
With thirteen members hard at work, together they supplied almost 40 hours of labor for the house. The paint used for the project was donated by Habitat for Humanity. Work will still be done to the home, including painting the upper half of the house as well as installing a gutter along the western side of the house.
Habitat for Humanity’s construction manager Steve Kerr allowed the group to borrow his ladders and scaffolding for the day. He had also primed the house a few days before painting began. This home marks the second project started by ABWK this summer, with no signs of slowing down. Four more houses are currently in the works and ABWK is always looking for more applicants.
If you are in need of assistance from the ABWK program, acquiring an application is a simple process. Simply call (435) 564-3330 and the application will then be mailed to you. You can also visit https://habitatcastlecountry.org/abwk.
