The Boys & Girls Club has undergone many changes and updates within the past few years. A new location, merger and staffing has not, however, slowed the club down. To kick off the annual National Boys & Girls Club Week, the community was invited to a small award ceremony and tour.
The ceremony was hosted in order to celebrate and honor the community partners of the year: Carbon County and Tony Basso GM. Representing Carbon County was Seth Oveson, who accepted a plaque and thanked those involved. Oveson continued by stating that the county is proud to help serve an organization that ensures that the local youth is safe and out of trouble.
Next to accept an award was Tony Basso. Given an identical plaque as Oveson, Basso stressed the importance of contributing locally and stated that he is so willing to donate to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club because it gives right back to the community that he has grown up in.
The members of the Boys & Girls Club were also thanked for cleaning Main Street as part of their club week activities. More activities followed, including a park day, games, treats and more. Youth of the Year AnnMarie Cannon was also introduced to the crowd.
Following the ceremony, cookies and water were provided for attendees. A walking tour of the facility was also available for those that wished to see all that is offered at the Boys & Girls Club.
