Zac Bradley tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings Friday night against St. George, helping the Helper Merchants to the 5-2 win to open the American Legion summer baseball season.
Bradley allowed just four hits while striking out six. Adrien Sanchez spelled Bradley in the top of the seventh. Kameron Gunter, Nate Olson, Jayden Flemett and Anthony Jones had hits in the game. Gunter’s hit was a triple. Jones had the only RBI in the game, a single that drove in a run in the second inning.
Flemett stole three bases in the game, which allowed him to score two of Helper’s five runs.
The Merchants will travel to Idaho this Thursday to take part in a tournament. The tourney will begin Thursday and end Saturday, in which Helper will take part in four games.
