Students at Bruin Point Elementary celebrated their graduation from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program during a ceremony last week. Fellow classmates, family members and school staff gathered to congratulate the students on their accomplishment.
This year’s D.A.R.E program was once again taught by East Carbon Police Chief Sam Leonard. D.A.R.E is an international program that teaches students effective ways to resist drugs and violence. Bruin Point has been incorporating the program into its school for many years.
“Thank you Chief Leonard for teaching our fifth grade students about responsible decision making,” school staff shared. “The students did a great job writing their essays, singing, dancing and pledging to stay drug free.”
During the ceremony, Chief Leonard presented the students with the graduation certificates. Each student was also given a t-shirt for their efforts.
