On Friday, April 22, students of Bruin Point Elementary School and their families had the chance to participate in Pet Day. Students payed a dollar to enter their pets and the furry, scaly or otherwise were shown off to the rest of the attendees. Everyone gathered on the school’s track and braved the winds to enjoy the festivity.
Animals such as dogs, lizards, cats and even a miniature horse were featured. Prizes were given to the some of the animals in categories including longest hair, best whiskers and cutest face. The entry fee for Pet Day and money collected in donation jars throughout the school’s classrooms went toward April’s service project of collecting donations for the Carbon County Animal Shelter.
Students also brought in dog toys treats, and blankets to donate for the animals. Once everything was collected, the student council officers delivered the donations to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, including a cash donation of $106.
