Buckhorn Information Center Celebrates Grand Opening with Ribbon Cutting

On Thursday, a ribbon cutting was hosted for the Buckhorn Information Center on Buckhorn Flat. The project was built a couple of years ago and is still not quite completed. The purpose of the grand opening was to show appreciation for and thank all the other partners associated with the project.

The Emery County Travel Bureau put the project together and funded the majority of it. The other partners involved with the information center were the State Park and Recreation, the Bureau of Land Management, Jones and Demille Engineering and the Emery County Road Department.

Those involved in the project have added pavilions with tables, benches for group settings and the old pump jack. The pump jack portion is not entirely complete. They will take cinder blocks from the old pump house and reconstruct three sides of it so that people can see what the facility really was before the information center was built.

The purpose of the information center is to intercept people who visit to tell them the story of Emery County. The information center was staffed, with volunteers, for the first time on Easter weekend and will be staffed on all future large weekends to help educate people on Emery County.
