Business Spotlight: Earl’s Furniture and Appliance

Residents of Carbon and Emery counties have been treated to affordable, quality furniture and appliances since 1950 when George and Mary Earl started Earl’s Bargain. Now known as Earl’s Furniture and Appliance, the business has grown significantly since its inception.

For years, George and Mary lived above the business and raised their children. As the children grew, so did the business. Eventually, Kim Earl, their youngest son, took over and changed the name to Earl’s Furniture and Appliance, and helped make it the success it is today.

Kim passed away in 2011 and left the store in the capable hands of his widow, Sharon Earl. Sharon continues to run the business and eventually named Arlene Willardson as the general manager. Sharon and Arlene work together to bring new ideas and styles into the counties of Carbon and Emery.

“This is my passion,” Willardson said. “I love decorating, giving people ideas. I love making their house a home. That really comes from the heart.”

Willardson has now managed the business for five years after being employed by Kim and Sharon Earl in January 2007. Her duties range from customer service and delivery scheduling to ordering the furniture that will fit anyone’s style in Carbon and Emery counties.

“Just because we are in Emery County and you live in Price in a newly built home, that doesn’t mean you won’t find something here,” Willardson said.

Handpicked by Willardson, customers can find dinettes (counter and regular height) that seat anywhere from two to ten people. Also in the store, there is a wide selection of sofas, love seats, recliners, stationary chairs, coffee tables, lamps and rugs. Decorating accessories are also found throughout the showroom and include items such as pictures from local artists and carved leather hangings. Special items are also ordered for the holidays, specifically for Christmas time.

For the bedroom, Earl’s carries a wide array of bedroom sets. Customers can even purchase individual pieces, such as a solitary headboard. Mattresses that fit any budget are also for sale along with stand up jewelry boxes and mirrors.

Customers can also find pieces to fit their children’s needs at Earl’s Furniture and Appliance. Bunk and trundle beds serve functional needs for children while fun, themed items, such as a race car bed, are also available. Customers will also find various accessories as well as Melissa and Doug toys.

In terms of appliances, Earl’s carries everything to make your kitchen complete. All sizes and styles of refrigerators are for sale along with stoves, microwaves and dishwashers. Washers and dryers are also on the sale floor.

Can’t find what you want in the store? Willardson has a variety of catalogs on hand and can purchase any requested items. Purchases from Earl’s Furniture and Appliance are also available for delivery. Be sure to ask about free delivery in Carbon and Emery counties!
