Once summer has officially kicked off, the pool is on everyone’s minds. The cool water, lounge chairs and pool toys call to everyone looking for a refreshing way to spend the day. At Emery Aquatic Center in Castle Dale, that luxury is available year round.

The Emery Aquatic Center recently celebrated their 5th anniversary in December. In just a short time, the business has achieved more than they had ever imagined. Utah awarded the aquatic center for having the best architectural design in the state, Emery High has been able to establish a swim team which sent swimmers to the state competition last year, and been able provide simple exercise options for the community. “We have programs for every fitness level,” said the facility’s manager. “The pool provides a comfortable workout environment.”

Starting at 5:30 a.m. Monday-Friday year-round, the aquatic center opens their indoor pool. Throughout the day, a series of classes, including swimming lessons, aquasize (aquatic exercise), and lap swimming are offered to the public. Regular swimming is also available after 1:30 p.m. during the week and Saturday from 11-6 with the added benefit of a diving board.

Throughout the summer the outdoor pool opens at 10 a.m. Monday-Friday and at 11 a.m. on Saturday, weather permitting. The outdoor pool offers a lazy river feature, whirlpool, full playground with three slides, water sprinklers, and zero-entry water to minimize drowning hazards, especially for little ones. Ultimately, the pool offers something for all ages in a safe, clean environment. “Safety is always number one,” explained Director Shannon Hiatt. “At each one of our staff meetings, that is what is most important.”
