Business Spotlight: Food Ranch

Owner’s Drew and Val LeRoy opened the doors of Food Ranch in 1981 and will celebrate its 33-year anniversary this upcoming November.

Drew grew up in Huntington and met Val while working for Associated Food Stores between 1971 and 1981. They moved back to Emery County in 1981 when he was given the opportunity to build his own grocery store.

Drew’s Food Ranch store began as a 3,000 square foot metal house/barn. He had experience working with local bakeries while with Associated Food Stores and used that experience to open his own in-store bakery. Because of the store’s limited size, the bakery and meat departments shared the same space with the bakery operating early in the morning and the meat department taking over the space for the rest of the day.

With Drew and Val’s hard work and close ties to the community, their store has experienced great success. They remodeled and expanded the store several times, first expanding to 6,000 square feet in 1986, and then to 23,000 square feet in 1996.

Over the years, Drew’s Food Ranch has grown into a modern grocery store with a complete line of groceries, fresh produce, full-service meat, deli and bakery, and catering to the surrounding community.

Food Ranch is a great place to stop in for lunch and enjoy dining in the Spartan’s Den dining area upstairs. The store also offers a variety of sporting goods, seasonal and gift items. This season you can find fireworks, patriotic items and camping equipment as well as lawn and garden supplies.

In addition, customers receive free soft serve ice cream with every 10 gallons of Phillip 66 gasoline or a world-famous donut, including their specialty the Butterfinger donut.

Food Ranch is located at 355 East State Road 29 in Orangeville. Business hours are Monday-Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To contact Food Ranch, call (435) 748-2725 or find the weekly ads on their website at www.foodranchinc.com

Drew and Val would like to thank the citizens of Emery County for all their support over the years.
