After years of dreaming about owning a restaurant that featured authentic Mexican food, Charlie Alvarez was ready to make it happen. “It was always my dream to own a restaurant,” said the Texas native. Alvarez was finally presented the opportunity four years ago. He and the rest of the Alvarez family packed up and moved to Wellington to open Los Jilbertos.
Conveniently placed on Main Street in Wellington, Los Jilbertos provides quick, delicious, and made-to-order meals to customers at reasonable prices. Food at the restaurant ranges from tacos and burritos to combination plates and appetizers like fish ceviche. The most popular dish at the restaurant is the carne asada, which can be served as a taco, burrito, a combination plate, and much more.
However, customers are not limited to just the menu at Los Jilbertos. Want eggs in that burrito? No problem. Turn a menu item into a quesadilla? You got it. In fact, a new classic, the green chile quesadilla, was created per customer request. Miguel, the main cook at the restaurant, is always willing to expand beyond the menu. “I just like to cook,” he said.
In addition to great food, the family at Los Jilbertos takes pride on the quick service and quality customer relationships they offer. With options like a drive thru, call ahead ordering, and a clean, friendly environment, the restaurant provides one stop dining.
Cook Miguel and the entire Alvarez family welcome customers to their food fiesta where “it is all about the customers”. Restaurant hours are 6 a.m.- 10 p.m., seven days a week.
