Business Spotlight: Washington Federal

Washington Federal was founded in 1917 and has been providing service to clients in Carbon and Emery counties since 1978. Vikki Barnett was hired as the branch manager on March 2. Barnett served as the Carbon County Recorder for eight years before accepting her position at Washington Federal and was an escrow agent at Southeastern Title for 14 years prior to that.

Barnett has experience dealing with loans, land property and customer service. “We are trying to be very customer oriented, customer friendly, very secure and confidential so that people feel comfortable coming into the branch, they feel comfortable coming through the drive-up and they feel comfortable doing their loans here,” she explained.

There are over 200 Washington Federal locations in eight western states and they provide access to over 20,000 no-fee ATMs through the MoneyPass network. Washington Federal has its corporate offices in Seattle, Wash.

Washington Federal is a portfolio lender and offers personal banking in checking and savings accounts, CDs and money market accounts, retirement, education savings, Save at School and credit cards. Save at School is an on-site program in which the bank works with the schools for student’s to open their first savings account. Mobile and online banking are also available with Washington Federal as well as MoneySync, which is available through Google Play and on the App Store. Washington Federal also offers commercial banking.

In addition to personal and commercial banking, Washington Federal has a strong custom construction program. Whether a client is building a new home or remodeling their current home, the entire project is underwritten at one time. This wraps construction and permanent financing together with no second loan, no dual fees and no wasted time or effort. It also locks in the current interest rate during the processing up to 90 days. Washington Federal offers mortgage conventional loans, refinancing loans and lot loans as well.
