The Wellington City Council received news at Wednesday’s meeting that the late spring and early summer has been extremely busy for the Wellington Police Department.

May and June totaled 270 calls to the police station, many of which wee complaints about young kids speeding around town on four wheelers.

The Department has mandated an adult accompany drivers 16-and-under at all times. First-time offenders would receive a warning, and second-time offenders would have their ATVs towed.

In other business, the Wellington Fire Department reported problems with the fire truck. The Department has noticed the lights occasionally stop working at random.

The Council will look into fixing the issue.
