Koby Butler scored a career high 33 points, including Emery’s first 19 points of the game, in the Emery Spartans’ 76-45 win over the Gunnison Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The win marked the sixth win in a row for Emery and is a perfect 7-0 in Region 15 play with three games remaining in the regular season.

All of Emery’s 17 first quarter points were scored by Butler, including a tip-in at the buzzer on a Bowdie Jacobson miss.

Butler connected on another bucket at the 6:46 mark of the second for 19 points. Jacobson then scored the next five points for the Spartans to give his team the 24-12 lead. The Bulldogs battled back, though, with back-to-back 3-pointers at around the three minute mark to cut the lead to four, 24-20. Jacobson nailed another three with fewer than 30 seconds to play in the half to give Emery the 30-22 halftime lead.

Butler scored six points in the third as the Spartans began to pull away from their opponents, leading 46-33 after three quarters.

Butler scored his 32nd and 33rd points of the game at the 4:21 mark of the fourth on two free throws, before exiting the game. Not only did Butler score a career high 33, he also pulled down a game high 15 rebounds. Emery outscored Gunnison 30-12 in the fourth quarter for the dominating victory.

Jacobson was the other Spartan in double figures with 13 points. He also added six rebounds and dished out five assists. Kolton Butler nabbed 11 boards and poured in six points. Kyson Stilson chipped in nine points off the bench.

Emery (17-1, 7-0 Region 15, #1 in 2A) will host North Sevier (4-14, 0-7 Region 15) on Friday for senior night. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
