EHS Senior Zach Jorgensen completed 14 out of 31 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns during Friday’s game against Morgan. The senior also threw three interceptions in the war that pitted the Spartans against the Trojans, ending in the latter’s favor 34-19.
The Spartans struggled to put up any points in the first quarter, ending it with a 13-0 score. Entering halftime the Spartans were able to put up their own points, but still lagged behind, evidenced by the 20-6 score.
Emery’s offense struggled again in the third, not scoring any points as the Trojans took the lead into the fourth, 27-6. Emery’s after burners managed to kick in during the fourth, however, as the team put up 13 more points to take the final score to 34-19.
Spartan Easton Gordon completed his sole pass for 46 yards and scored the team’s third touchdown. Teammate Kolton Butler also did his share, receiving two touchdowns as he caught seven passes for 152 yards Friday night.
The Spartans will next host the Union Cougars on Friday for the team’s homecoming matchup. The game will be streamed live on ETV Channel 10 and will start at 7 p.m.
