Koby Butler scored a career-high 24 points and 18 rebounds in the Emery Spartans’ 54-50 win over pesky North Sanpete on Wednesday night. The win bolstered Emery’s case as the overall ranked team in 2A. The Spartans are currently ranked second behind Layton Christian who has three more losses than Emery.
In a tight game throughout, the contest didn’t even begin until about 7:30 p.m. because of a triple-overtime JV game. Koby and Kolton Butler, who scored 12 points in the game, combined to score 36 of Emery’s 54 points.
Emery (9-1, 0-0 Region 15) has just one game remaining on its preseason schedule, a Saturday tilt against Carbon (8-5, 0-0 Region 12) at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10. The Spartans will host Grand (4-4, 0-0 Region 15) on Wednesday for each team’s region opener.
