The USU Eastern SUN Center hosted a Never Lose Your Flame candlelight vigil for Tay Johnson, David Taylor and Preston Grant on Tuesday evening to celebrate the trio that unexpectedly lost theirs lives recently. The vigil aimed to celebrate and remember the lives of the three who were friends to many.

At the event, candles were lit in memory of those who recently passed. Following the lighting ceremony, some of those in attendance took a chance to reflect on their memories with Johnson, Taylor and Grant.

“Tay was always a positive person,” one friend reflected about Johnson. “She would want us to be positive now.”

USU Eastern Director of Student Counseling Darrin Brandt LCSW took time to urge those suffering the loss of a loved one to band together with the community and celebrate the lives of  those lost.

“You are valued and loved and please take care of yourselves,” the SUN Center shared on social media. The center reminds everyone to wear their seat belts at all times. Additionally, members encouraged those contemplating suicide to contact the National Lifeline for Suicide Prevention at 1-800-273-8255.
