Carbon and Emery Track Begin Season at Region 12 Pre-Region Meet *Photo Gallery*

The Carbon girls finished in second place and boys finished in fourth to help the Carbon track team to a fourth overall finish Wednesday at the Region 12 Pre-Region meet at Carbon High School.

The Emery Spartans took fifth in both areas and fifth overall.

Carbon sophomore Sarah Ohlwiler earned 32 overall points, garnering two first place finishes, a second and a fifth. She took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.99. In the 100-meter sprint, Ohlwiler finished in fifth. She then nabbed a second place finish in the 300 meters with a time of 52.66. Ohlwiler finished just in front of teammate Jordan Scoggins in the long jump with a 16-foot jump. Scoggins finished with a 15’6” jump.

Emery sophomore Erin Hurst got the only first place finish for the Spartans in the 1600 meters. She also nabbed a second place finish in the 3200. Hurst finished with a time of 5:46.27 in the 1600 and 13.57.40 in the 3200.
