Carbon County Releases 2019 Unofficial Preliminary Election Results

Earlier this year, in August, the canvas election results for the preliminary elections were released for Carbon and Emery counties.

The unofficial results were released on Tuesday evening, though mail-in ballots may be received later on.

One position was open for the mayor of East Carbon. Current Mayor David F. Avery received the most votes at 52.62% and 251 votes. Current councilwoman Barbara J. Robinett followed closely at 47.38% and 226 votes.

Three seats were available for East Carbon City Council members. Charles Abeyta received 275 votes, followed by Jason Jorgensen with 219 votes. Liz Ferguson received 216, Bob Martinez received 213, Jesse C. Stewart saw 211 and Karla C. Young rounded out the votes with 183.

There were also three seats available on the Helper City Council, which saw Gary Harwood at 294, Michelle Goldsmith at 288 and Amanda Wheeler at 247. David Dornan followed closely at 244, followed by Nathan Behn at 78 and Jason L. Riffe at 73.

Layne Miller topped off the voting of the three available seats on the Price City Council at 888. He was followed by Rick Davis at 768 and Boyd Marsing at 716. Terri Tubbs received 576, Andy Urbanik had 507 and Jared Chiara had 436.

There were three candidates running for the three four-year terms available on the Wellington City Council. Glen Wells received 231 of the votes, followed by Paula Noyes with 206 and Bethany Perea with 192.

For the two, two-year terms available for Wellington City Council, Derek Bradley received 147 votes while Wellington Police Chief Rory Bradley followed at 143. Candidates Kory K. Moosman and Gary Rich sat at 124 and 121, respectively.

Finally, the Carbon County School District Bond was voted for in favor by 2,311 votes. Those in opposition came in at 2,017.
