Carbon and Emery scored a combine 20 runs in their matchup Friday afternoon at Ernie Gardner Field in Helper. The Dinos came out on top, 12-8.
Both teams came out hot from the plate. Emery tallied five runs off of starter Talon Abeyta. The Dinos responded in the bottom half of the inning with four of their own. The Dinos would go on to scored two runs apiece in the second and third innings and another in the fourth and three in the sixth to round out the scoring. The Spartans scored a single run in each of the second, third and fourth innings for their eight runs in the game.
Mitch Olson was the lone Dino with multiple base hits, including a triple and a single en route to three RBIs. Trey Richardson and Anthony Maclean had the other RBIs for Carbon. Cody Lowe and Austin Henrie had the other extra-base hits for Carbon, a triple and double, respectively.
Both teams committed six errors in the game that contributed to many unearned runs.
Carbon (2-5, 0-0 Region 12) will take its modest two-game winning streak to 4A Maple Mountain (5-3, 0-0 Region 8) on Wednesday. Emery (1-5, 0-1 2A East) is set to host South Sevier (8-0, 1-0 2A Central) on Tuesday.
