Carbon, Emery and Pinnacle Knee Deep in Cross Country Action

Cross Country teams from across Castle Country were busy over the weekend and Monday as meets in Huntington and in Provo hosted teams from Carbon, Emery and Pinnacle high schools.

The Dinos and Panthers were in Huntington at the Stewart Foster Invitational on Monday while the Spartans were in Provo on Saturday to take part in the BYU Autumn Classic.

The Emery boys placed 14th out of 24 schools. The Carbon boys took first place, nabbing four places in the top six. Pinnacle boys placed third out of five teams. The Lady Panthers came in fourth, while the Lady Dinos took home third.

James Bryner placed first overall in Huntington, taking the three-mile race in 18:15.1. Ammon Wilson, Shane Scaugard and Jared Spendlove finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively. Landen Hardy came in eighth place, with Zach Gibson coming in right after in ninth to lead Pinnacle. For the Lady Panthers, Kemery Stuckenschneider took 15th with a time of 27:29.6. Angel Welch was right after Stuckenschneider in 16th.

Among some of the toughest competition in the state and beyond, the Emery boys were led by sophomore Bryar Meccariello in 48th place with a time of 16:51.4. Chase Christiansen, Jess Christiansen and McKay Meccariello came in within the next minute of Bryar. Cross country powerhouse American Fork took first overall as a team.

Carbon will host its own meet on Wednesday in Price, hosting both Pinnacle and Emery among a host of other schools.
